Party Animal

We're excited to say that Party Animal is back! This offering is rotating selection of natural-processed coffees from Africa.

Our second Uganda coffee of the season comes from coffee guru Norman Mukuru's processing center, The Coffee Yard. Nestled in the foothills of Mt. Elgon, he has created a massive processing center for high-quality natural coffees with a range of flavor profiles. Mukuru works closely with smallholder farmers on Mt. Elgon to consistently improve coffee quality year over year and we think it shows.

The name of the growing site, "Imbalu", is named after a tradtional rite of passage ceremony that occurs on even years. According to Mukuru, coffee would be left unattended for days as locals were attending Imbalu, leaving the cherries to ferment. This is similar to the processing of this lot, which undergoes a 21-day drying process after sorting.

In the cup, this one is funky. A juicy body reminds us of cranberry juice, with strawberry and a creamy aftertaste following. If you like Party Animal, you'll love this one.
